Arapahoe Basin will exit the Mountain Collective pass after the 2024-25 season, “a widely expected move” following last yearโ€™s acquisition by Alterra Mountain Company, as reported by The Storm Skiing Journal. The departure leaves Aspen as the only remaining Mountain Collective destination in Colorado, though it includes four ski areas.

The decision comes as no surprise after Alterra removed Mammoth, Palisades Tahoe, and Sugarbush from Mountain Collective in 2022, signaling a shift in strategy for resorts under its ownership. With A-Basin now part of Alterraโ€™s portfolio, its removal seemed inevitable. Yet despite the loss of a key Colorado partner, Mountain Collective remains strong with 31 ski areas across 26 destinations.ย The pass will still offer two no-blackout days at each destination, with 2025-26 pricing set at $639 for adults, $509 for teens, and $226 for children, with a $30 discount for renewals.

Mountain Collective does not share any partners with Vail Resortsโ€™ Epic Pass or Indy Pass but maintains significant overlap with Alterraโ€™s Ikon Pass. While next season’s Ikon Pass details are still pending, Mountain Collective continues to provide access to Aspen, Jackson Hole, Snowbasin, Sun Valley, and Alta, resorts that have not been available on Ikonโ€™s more affordable Base or Session pass tiers in recent years.

With Indy Pass announcing 2025-26 rates earlier this month, Mountain Collective becomes the second multi-mountain pass to set next seasonโ€™s pricing. The future availability of A-Basin on the Ikon Pass remains uncertain at this time even though Alterra has offered unlimited access to its owned resorts, with the exception of Deer Valley in Utah.

As Mountain Collective moves into its next sales season without A-Basin, attention now turns to whether new partner resorts will be added to fill the gap in the Colorado market.
