Arapahoe Basin ski area, CO will open this Friday, October 21st, 2016!
“We just had a cold and snowy night. Right now the snowmaking system is still cranking at near capacity. Mother nature delivered 4-5 inches of natural snow at mid-mountain. The forecast for tonight is mostly clear with temperatures in the teens, perfect for snowmaking. The reservoir is still almost full. Scotty is back in his cat dozing out the piles. Bill and I just walked High Noon. It is time. WE ARE GOING TO OPEN FOR 2016-17 SEASON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21.” – Arapahoe Basin COO, Alan Henceroth, today
Arapahoe Basin will be the first ski resort to open in North America this season.
Loveland ski area, CO, just across the street, is close to opening as well. They might just match this opening day…
Last year, Arapahoe Basin & Loveland both opened for the season on October 29th, 2015.
