In an update to his daily blog, Arapahoe Basin CEO Alan Henceroth provided us with a quick update as to the resort’s progress towards opening day. Snowmaking conditions have been aided by the big storm currently moving down Colorado, forecasted to drop up to 8″ of fresh, natural snow on A-Basin and the surrounding mountains.

Right now it is snowing nicely. The air temperature is dropping precipitously. The relative humidity is high with all the snow so the wet bulb temperature is similar to air temperature. Currently, that air temperature is 17 F at mid-mountain, but expected to continue to drop all day. These are ideal conditions.

We have had some good snowmaking weather over the last week. The next couple days will be VERY, VERY, VERY good snowmaking weather.

By Friday morning, The Basin will be a very different looking place.

By Friday morning The Basin will be a very different place… 🤔 What are you saying, Alan? What do you reckon, what’s your guess for opening day?
