Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, Co OPENED For The Season Today!

Best Friday the 13th ever?

Arapahoe Basin ski area in Colorado will be open daily from today until June.

“Thanks to two feet of natural snowfall in the month of October and an incredible start to snowmaking, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area was able to open its High Noon run to several thousand excited skiers and snowboarders today, Friday, October 13, 2017. The Black Mountain Express lift started turning at 9:00 a.m. and will run seven days a week into June, when the ski area is slated to close. Arapahoe Basin boasts the longest ski season in Colorado and one of the earliest opening dates in North America. Snowmakers have already begun work on the next trail to open, Ramrod, and everyone is doing their snow dances in hopes that Mother Nature will bring the powder!” – Arapahoe Basin, CO today

Timberline Lodge, OR also opened today, but just for one day.  They also opened last Sunday for a couple of hours in the afternoon.  Both their openings have been because of lots of early season natural snow.

Arapahoe Basin, CO opens today as the first ski resort in North America to open up for the 2017/18 season. The weather is looking perfect, with a high of 48 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 30. This is a relatively early opening for Arapahoe Basin, as their earliest opening ever is on October 9th.
