Arizona Snowbowl said Tuesday that 93% of its terrain is now open, marking one of the strongest starts to a season the northern Arizona resort has seen in years. All eight lifts were running as of December 5, giving skiers and riders access to nearly the entire mountain during what is usually a gradual early-December ramp-up.
“Thanks to our hardworking teams and 5 feet of snowfall so far this season, all lifts are now open across the whole mountain! Enjoy top-to-bottom skiing across 57 trails, including the Upper Bowl!” – Arizona Snowbowl
The resort reported it has already received about 5 feet of natural snowfall, pushing conditions far ahead of what is typical for this point in the season. By comparison, Snowbowl had 50 percent of lifts and 21 percent of trails open on the same date last winter.
The terrain expansion comes on the heels of a record 185-day season last winter, when Snowbowl stayed open into June for the second consecutive year. Recent snowmaking upgrades near the Humphrey’s Chairlift are expected to support more reliable coverage and potentially extend spring operations again.
With early excitement building, the resort is placing added emphasis on responsible skiing and riding. Throughout December, Snowbowl is hosting “Know the Code” events aimed at helping guests understand and apply the Your Responsibility Code guidelines. Collision Camps will be held Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving guests a chance to test their awareness knowledge for winter-gear prizes.
A separate program, Safety on the Slopes, will run Sundays during the same hours, offering guests a chance to demonstrate their understanding of the Responsibility Code and spin a prize wheel for safety-focused gear. Snowbowl also announced holiday programming for families visiting later this month. Santa is scheduled to visit the Hart Prairie beginner area December 23-24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where guests can take photos, share Christmas wishes, and ski alongside him.
Snowbowl encouraged guests to check the resort’s website for updated lift and terrain information as the season progresses.
