Australian Snowboarder Scotty James Documentary “Pipe Dream” Released on Netflix

A new documentary chronicling the life and career of Australian snowboarder Scotty James has been released on Netflix.Scotty James: Pipe Dream,” produced by Front Office Sports and directed by Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Pat Dimon, follows the rise of one of snowboarding’s most accomplished athletes, from his early childhood to his pursuit of Olympic gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games.

The film draws on more than two decades of previously unseen home videos, competition footage, and interviews, offering an intimate portrait of James’ development from a young snowboarding prodigy to a global sporting figure. James made his Olympic debut at just 15 years old and has since built one of the most decorated careers in men’s halfpipe snowboarding.

Interviews in the documentary include members of James’ family, his wife Chloe Stroll, and his brother-in-law, Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll. The film also features commentary from leading figures in the sport, including Shaun White, Chloe Kim, and Torah Bright.

James is a two-time Olympic medalist, a four-time world champion, and a seven-time X Games gold medalist. He is currently regarded as one of the favourites for gold in men’s halfpipe snowboarding at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

In addition to his Olympic ambitions, James is set to compete at the 2025 X Games in Aspen, where he will attempt to win an eighth consecutive X Games gold medal and break the record for the most victories in the men’s SuperPipe event.

“Scotty James: Pipe Dream” is now available to stream on Netflix.
