A 52 year-old Austrian man has been pronounced dead after an skier-triggered avalanche in Revelstoke, BC. The exact cause of death appears to be a cardiac arrest suffered during the avalanche that caught three heli-skiers in the Goldstream area, 100 km north of Revelstoke, on Monday afternoon.
The government initially withheld the name of the heli operator, although Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH) have since confirmed involvement.
The two other skiers were able to extract themselves from the debris. The victim was extracted and CPR was performed, but attempts were unsuccessful and the victim was declared deceased.
The avy danger was considerable at the time.
