Austrian Mountain Biker Fabian Dankl Jumps from Gondola to Gondola on Bike

If you thought bike tricks couldn’t get any more insane, think again. 

Austrian mountain biker and BMX rider Fabian Dankl recently released jaw-dropping footage of him jumping from one gondola cabin to another on his bike at Saint Johan in Tyrol, Austria. To make the trick all the more impressive, the 26-year-old jumped the seven-and-a-half-foot gap while doing a wheelie, using just his back wheel for both the takeoff and landing.

With his trick, Fabian Dankl becomes the world’s first person to jump from gondola to gondola on a mountain bike.

Completing the gondola gap had been an idea of Dankl’s for quite some time. He took all the necessary safety precautions, wore his safety harness, and began his attempts.

For Dankl, the trick’s difficulty came in its setup. Both cabins were at the same height, 65 feet above the ground, but constant shaking from the wind made it hard to commit to the trick. The cabins were also small, forcing Dankl and his crew to use two pieces of plywood on each cabin for his takeoff and landing. But despite the setup challenges, Dankl and his crew found a way.

After completing the trick, he thanked both his team and the resort for giving him a chance to perform a trick he had dreamed about for years. 

“Behind every crazy project is an even crazier crew,” Dankl wrote in a Facebook post. “A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this World’s First possible. There’s a lot more behind a project like this than what you see in the final few seconds. Couldn’t have done it without you guys.”

That trick only scratches the surface of what Dankl has done throughout his years of riding. Back in July 2025, Dankl posted a video of himself riding from tower to tower on a gondola cable, which generally measures just 1.5 to 3 inches in diameter. Any minor adjustment would cause him to fall off the cable, leaving him dangling by his safety harness. Dankl’s gondola cable trick took him multiple attempts and over two years of planning, but thanks to his determination (and harness), he was able to complete it.

The Austrian mountain biker has also posted dozens of other incredible tricks, including jumping over fire, riding up a ski slope while being tugged by a snowmobile, and jumping over groups of people. The most famous video on his YouTube channel, which has gained over 230,000 views, shows him dropping off a roof while performing a wheelie.

Dankl began posting his tricks on YouTube back in 2014. Today, his channel has over 200 videos and 17,000 subscribers.

While it feels as though Dankl has completed every trick in the book, he has no plans of stopping any time soon. Keep an eye on the young Austrian. His next project might be even crazier.

“More projects, more crazy ideas, and hopefully many more moments like this together,” Dankl wrote.
