At the time of the avalanche, the 36-year-old man was skiing with a large group of backcountry skiers. The victim and another skier split off from the group and were both caught in an avalanche. Luckily, the other skier was able to free himself from the debris and search for the other man. Sadly, when he located the victim, it was too late. Police are withholding the victims name, until the family is notified. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
