A 22-year old man from Bariloche, Argentina died yesterday in a freak accident while testing skis in a terrain park at La Hoya Ski Center.
MartÃn Rossi was in Esquel to participate in a Free Session meeting that takes place every year at the end of the season when he fell and suffered a heavy blow. He was immediately transferred to the Zonal Hospital of Esquel where he could not be resuscitated and died around 4:00 pm. Although he lived in San Carlos de Bariloche, his family are from Esquel.
The Manager of the La Hoya Ski Center, Diego Alonso, confirmed the death of the young skier and explained that first indications are that on the approach to a jump, his ski stuck and he could not regain his balance. He suffered a fatal blow to his face and chest.
A sad day. Testers are always the most brave. May the family have support and care through this most difficult time.
