BBC’s Winter Olympics Trailer Is Totally Over the Top

Um…  Hey, lady, yeah, that’s not how you carry skis…

Nature.  Who Will Conquer It? – BBC

Nobody conquers nature, buddy.

The BBC made this 2014 Winter Olympics trailer and it’s preposterous.  The voice in the clip is British actor Charles Dance, who is famous for his role as Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

This trailer has people who don’t know how to carry skis and who don’t really look like athletes going up against Mt. Doom.  The best part is listening to what the voice in the video says.  He makes it sound more like something our of Lord of the Rings than a happy sporting event.

Check out what he says:

I am the dreadful menace.
The one whose will is done.
The haunting chill upon your neck.
I am the conundrum.

I will summon armies.
Of wind and rain and snow.
I made the black cloud overhead.
The ice, like glass below.

Not you, nor any other.
Can fathom what is nigh.
I will tell you when to jump.
And I’ll dictate how high.

The ones that came before you.
Stood strong and tall and brave.
But I stole their dreams away.
Those dreams could not be saved.

But now you stand before me.
Devoid of all dismay.
Could it be? Just maybe.
I’ll let you have your day.

Scared yet?
