Beaver Mountain Ski Area is tucked away in Utah’s northeast corner and is the United State’s oldest continuously-owned family ski resort. Beaver Mountain was opened in 1939 by Harold Seeholzer who had a vision to share his passion for skiing with others. On Tuesday, March 11, Beaver Mountain will be celebrating its 85th birthday by offering $20 lift tickets.

In 1939, a rope tow was installed at Beaver Mountain, which consisted of a car motor and a steel cable. Each morning the lift operator would make the trek up to the top of the lift to start it. Later in 1949, a 1,000-foot rope tow was installed, along with a T-bar the following season in 1950.
Flash forward to today, the mountain has six lifts and accesses 1,700 vertical feet of skiing.ย With 48 runs and 828 skiable acres, Beaver Mountain has a balance of beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain.

Marge Seeholzer, the ski area’s president has continued to keep the dream in the family. Despite the “President” title, Marge has been working in the ticket office since 1970, when her husband Ted Seeholzer became the General Manager. Ted and Margeโs sons, Travis and Jeff, still work at the mountain, where Jeff is the Mountain Manager and Travis is the Mountain Operations Manager.
