Big SNOW American Dream, North America’s only indoor ski park, will officially reopen to guests on Friday, May 27, after being closed for almost eight months due to a fire.
“We are excited to reopen Big SNOW to guests this Memorial Day Weekend. We thank our visitors and team for their patience as we’ve worked diligently to resume the full operation of the facility. We are appreciative of all the hard work that has gone towards this reopening and look forward to welcoming guests back to our slope, where we offer endless winter fun right here in New Jersey.”
– Trish McLeod, Director of Resorts Marketing & Sales, SNOW Partners
Following the electrical fire in September 2021, Big SNOW in New Jersey was originally expected to reopen after Halloween, before then pushing back to early 2022. The delays were largely due to insurance wrangling.
The park will open from 1 pm until 9 pm and will host a snow-studded beach party with a DJ, live ice sculpting, complimentary photoshoot sessions, giveaways, and the chance to meet and ride with athletes from Burton.
First chair will honor members of the fire departments that responded to the blaze that caused the closure, and discounted tickets will be available to responding firefighters and their families.
“We are tremendously thankful for the quick response and efforts made by the local fire departments last fall.”

Big SNOW opened in December 2019 and offers four acres of indoor slopes, four surface and aerial lifts with a 160-foot vertical drop, covered by 5,500 tons of real snow that is kept cold by heavy-duty chillers maintaining a 28ºF temperature year-round. It is located in the Mega Mall known as American Dream, which is the second-largest mall in the United States. BigSNOW is one of several attractions that the mall features with others such as Nickelodeon Universe, Dream Works Water Park, Legoland, and Sea Life, along with a large selection of specialty shops and restaurants for people to check out. The whole facility could be classified as a destination spot because you could make a whole weekend trip to check out everything the mall offers.
