The TELUS Kelowna Cup at Big White Ski Resort continues to deliver both high-energy racing and meaningful community impact. Now 22 years strong, the annual event raised more than $20,000 this season for People in Motion, a Kelowna-based nonprofit that supports individuals with disabilities through recreation and community programs. Organizers thanked competitors, volunteers, and spectators for helping make the fundraiser another success.
“The TELUS Kelowna Cup at Big White Ski Resort continues to make an impact,” the resort shared following the event. “Thank you to everyone who competed, volunteered, and brought the energy from the sidelines—we couldn’t do it without you.”
The Kelowna Cup has grown into one of Big White’s signature community events, blending friendly ski and snowboard competition with a strong charitable focus. Over the years, the race has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local causes across British Columbia’s Interior.
Last year’s event, held over Family Day weekend, brought a lively atmosphere to TELUS Park and raised more than $15,000 for the Powderhounds Adaptive Snowsports program, which operates under People in Motion. Powderhounds provides adaptive skiing and snowboarding opportunities for individuals with disabilities, helping break down barriers to participation in winter sports.
People in Motion, a registered charity, focuses on reducing social isolation and increasing access to recreational programming for individuals of all abilities. Funds raised through the TELUS Kelowna Cup help expand adaptive snowsports offerings and ensure participants can access equipment, instruction, and mountain experiences.
Community members who wish to continue supporting People in Motion can donate directly through the official campaign page: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/14056?v2=true
With more than two decades of momentum behind it, the TELUS Kelowna Cup remains a cornerstone of Big White’s winter calendar—proof that a day on the slopes can make a lasting difference off them.
