Renowned Norwegian freestyle skier Birk Ruud and TV personality Tonje Frigstad announced their engagement on Instagram on July 30, 2025, confirming a proposal that took place two days earlier.
Under the cover of Bruno Mars’s “Marry You,” the couple shared that the surprise proposal unfolded on July 28 at Flekkerøy, Frigstad’s favorite place. Frigstad described the moment as, “shocking, but very special and perfect,” while expressing deep gratitude for continuing their life adventure together. The ring, the location, and the timing had been thoughtfully planned by Ruud for over a year. In a touching message to VG, the Norwegian news outlet, Ruud called Frigstad “the most beautiful girl in the world” and said he felt immense pride in calling her his fiancée.
The couple officially revealed their relationship in early 2023 and later that year bought a shared apartment in Oslo. Ruud, 24, a freestyle skiing star and Olympic gold medalist, and Frigstad, also 24, known for her work as a TV presenter, have made a name for themselves both individually and as a couple.
We would like to wish the happy couple all the best on this joyful occasion.
