The upcoming ski season at Black Mountain is set to open on Saturday, November 15, marking the earliest opening in its 90-year history.
Black Mountain, New Hampshire, and Indy Pass announced today that Black Mountain will open for skiing on Saturday, November 15, at 7:45 a.m. Eastern time. This will make it the first ski resort in the state of New Hampshire to open, and among a select few to open early in the New England region. “Since our record-setting last day of skiing on May 3, 2025, we have been on a relentless and non-stop mission to set up Black Mountain for a magical season and a sustainable future.” Erik Mogensen, General Manager of Black Mountain and Indy Pass Managing Director, said in a press release. “Being open matters, and we’re thrilled to welcome our skiers and riders back to see what we’ve been up to.” Opening day will be limited to Black Mountain’s Season Pass holders and Indy Pass holders.

This announcement follows significant investments made in Black Mountain over the past year. This includes the expansion of snowmaking systems, renovations to guest facilities, and the addition of parking capacity, among other enhancements.
Indy Pass and its parent company, Entabeni Systems, bought the ski resort in October 2024 to save it from certain closure. The goal was to transform it into a community-owned co-op ski area. Black Mountain Community Corporation—the entity formed as the financial vehicle to fund and run the ski area—closed on the final components of the sale last September, paving the way for this vision.
“We continue to move forward with our SEC Regulation A filing,” Mogensen said. “This exemption will allow us to offer shares to the general public with certain limitations, ensuring that the community has a say in the ownership and direction of the mountain. My goal has always been to establish a model that balances this community ownership with effective and decisive management — ensuring that Black Mountain remains not only open, but in fact leads by example with what the sport and culture of skiing can and should be.”
Black Mountain’s season passes remain on sale at limited quantities and are offered at the most affordable rates in the Mt. Washington Valley. Lift Tickets for the season will be available soon on a first-come, first-served basis, with greater savings available when purchased in advance.
Black Mountain is situated in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and has long been considered a classic New England hill with deep local ties. The Jackson ski area opened in 1935 and features 140 acres of skiing across 45 trails. Its lift fleet includes a 1965 double chair, a 1984 triple chair, and three surface lifts, serving roughly 1,100 vertical feet. Black Mountain is the oldest continuously operating ski resort in New Hampshire.
