As the temperatures warm up, Breckenridge Ski Resort will celebrate closing day of the 2022/23 winter season on Sunday, May 21, after nearly 200 days of skiing and riding. Skiers and riders can get in their final turns of the season this week before the resort closes for winter and shifts focus to summer operations, which are set to begin on Friday, June 30. For the latest information on terrain and operations heading into closing weekend, check the lift and terrain status page on Breckenridge.com.

“It’s been such a fun and memorable season at Breck. We kicked off the season two days early in November, opened the new Rip’s Ride chair, and celebrated with our employees and community across our Five Peaks and into town. While the new snow last week made for great late-season skiing and riding, conditions change rapidly in the springtime, and we are no longer seeing below-freezing overnight temperatures. We will send out the season in style on Sunday on Peak 7 with skiing, riding and music with DJ DC.”

– Jody Churich, vice president and chief operating officer at Breckenridge Ski Resort

The resort celebrated many milestones this winter season. From launching a new $20 minimum wage and expanded benefits across Vail Resorts and opening a new year-round licensed employee childcare facility at Breck in January; to hosting a chairlift auction to benefit the Summit County Search and Rescue Group and debuting a new, high-speed Rip’s Ride on Peak 8; to celebrating on snow at Community First Tracks and launching the new Snowstang service in partnership with the Town of Breckenridge. All of these initiatives exemplify the resort’s efforts to prioritize its employees and community and improve the overall flow and circulation of skiers and riders throughout the resort.

Heading into summer and preparing for next season, upgrading 5-Chair to a new, high-speed quad will continue the transformation of Peak 8 and the resort experience. With this lift upgrade, all four chairlifts that service Peak 8 will be high-speed lifts next season, improving flow and circulation out of the resort’s most popular base area. The new 5-Chair will serve as a primary portal lift for skiers and riders out of Peak 8, and it will also provide a clear path to progression on Peak 8, with Rip’s Ride area servicing learning and beginner terrain, 5-Chair servicing beginner and intermediate terrain, and the Colorado and Rocky Mountain SuperChairs servicing intermediate and advanced terrain. Construction will be taking place throughout the summer, with plans for the new lift to be ready to ride for the 2023/24 winter season!

Skiers and riders can also prepare for next winter season with 2023/24 Epic Passes on sale now. Prices go up after May 29, so now is the best time to secure the lowest price of the year and access to resorts like Breck, Keystone, Vail, Park City, Whistler Blackcomb, and more. And don’t forget – Epic Pass Holders also receive summer benefits at eligible resorts, including summer scenic gondola rides, 20% off summer food, lodging, bike rentals and more.

Breckenridge Ski Resort, and the BreckConnect Gondola, will reopen for summer operations starting Friday, June 30, and more details on summer can be found at Breckenridge.com
