Brian Head Resort, Utah, is stretching its already extended season even further, adding a surprise extra day of skiing on Friday, May 1 — just days after announcing its original May 2–3 bonus weekend.
The newly added day will feature $1 lift tickets, offering one of the cheapest days of skiing in the country this season. The resort will reopen with 12 trails accessed via the Giant Steps Express and the newly installed conveyor lift at the Giant Steps base area. “We are grateful for the hard work of the Brian Head team that enabled us to launch May skiing in Utah,” said general manager Tom Pettigrew. “And we’re excited to enable skiing for all by offering $1 lift tickets.”
The extension pushes Brian Head’s 2025–26 season to 160 days, further cementing it as one of the longest in Utah this winter. The resort had already marked an early milestone by becoming the first in the state to open, kicking off operations on November 21, 2025.
Late-season conditions have helped make the additional day possible. With a base elevation of 9,600 feet — the highest in Utah — Brian Head has maintained solid coverage into spring. The resort also picked up fresh snowfall this week, and colder temperatures allowed snowmaking crews to resume operations on the Giant Steps terrain ahead of closing weekend.
The rest of the previously announced closing celebrations will continue as planned on Saturday, May 2. Festivities include raffle giveaways — where each lift scan counts as an entry — along with bonus entries for those in costume. Prizes range from lift tickets to a one-night stay at Brian Head Lodge and a weekday season pass.
A mountain-wide group photo is scheduled for noon at the top of Giant Steps, and a live DJ will perform on the Giant Steps Lodge patio through the afternoon.
With the addition of May 1, what was already a bonus weekend has now become a three-day sendoff, giving skiers and snowboarders one last, low-cost opportunity to lap Utah turns before the season officially comes to a close.
