Report from March 25, 2026
Yesterday, neighbor Joe and I rolled out to Brighton Ski Resort in Utah for one reason.
I really wanted one last park day before heading north to Alaska, and this was my last chance.
I’d gone to Park City the previous day, and they had already shut the park down and bulldozed all the jumps.

I had a podcast in the morning with Les 3 Vallées, the largest ski resort on Earth at 25,000 acres, so I showed up a bit late.

Joe and I clicked into our skis around noon, and the park was already a touch slow due to the heat.
There was a fun three-jump line, with the biggest jump at the end, and I never quite got enough speed to clear it.

I tried three 360s and knuckled all of them.
I was about to walk away when I thought, “This will be my last shot at a backflip for a while!” I generally don’t backflip while guiding, which is what I will be doing in Alaska for the next month.
So, knowing damn well I’d hit the knuckle, I went for it and barely got it around.

But it “worked,” and I rode on to the Milly Chair for some afternoon slush laps.
Milly was fun, with no one around and some neat terrain available.
I goofed off in mini chutes and off mega mogul airs ranging from 10–22 inches.

Joe and I had a blast and even ran into Dr. Joe and his medical squad.
All in all, a great day. Then it was 87ºF rolling through Salt Lake City on our way back home.
A heat wave like we’ve never seen.

Never in my 48 years has there been heat like this in the mountains in March.
Whoa…!
On to Alaska and cooler temps today.
Thanks, Utah!
