The mega-storm currently pounding the Sierra Nevada proved too much for a couple of resorts. Snow Valley had to postpone their Wednesday opening due to ‘too much snow’, and LA’s closest resort, Mountain High, also closed due to the storm.

Snow Valley was originally hoping to reopen today, but the continuing intensity of the storm has made them reassess this, and they will now be opening on Friday.

Due to Thursday’s forecast storm that appears to be more intense than Wednesday’s storm, we will reopen Friday at 9 am.  Gusty winds, near whiteout conditions and 27-37 inches of snow are in the forecast per the National Weather Service.  The weeks ahead will be awesome thanks to this storm and snowmaking that is underway this evening.

Wednesday’s storm has brought us 10-12 inches of snow thus far!

Weather permitting, Mountain High will be opening today. If you can get there. Driving in the current conditions is not recommended.
