Conditions have improved significantly over the week at Cardrona. Temperatures dropped below freezing for several days allowing for snow to be made day and night. All main runs now have very good coverage and all lifts are operating.

No natural snow however means that off-piste skiing is limited. Captain’s Basin which typically would have many natural features and fun mini chutes remains quite rocky. For those seeking something a bit different the mountain bike trails below Whitestar have been filled in by the wind and make for a fun mini boardercross.

The park continues to be well maintained with a few new features every week. The two intermediate jumps remain open and now two smaller quarter pipes have been built below them. The large jumps and half pipe remain closed until there is more snow.

The Remarkables over near Queenstown remains open but very crowded as Coronet Peak is still closed. Crowds should also be expected at Cardrona this week with Australian school holidays beginning and Treble Cone also closed.
