Cerro Castor ski area on the southern tip of Argentina announced yesterday that they would be opening for the season on July 2nd.
Ski resorts in South America lay dormant for the beginning of the season last year due to the pandemic, as record-breaking snow piled up, and many resorts didn’t open at all. Cerro Castor was the first resort in South America to announce its 2020 opening, spinning the lifts on August 1st.
8,000-miles away on the other side of the world, ski season in Australia and New Zealand is already underway, as early season snowfall allowed a number of resorts to open earlier than scheduled.
Here’s hoping winter 2021 is more successful than 2020 in South America…
