Colorado is known as one of the best states in America for skiing and snowboarding. When we hear Colorado skiing, we often think of Aspen, Breckenridge, Keystone, Loveland, etc. Once we start thinking about those places, we tend to think, “how much is this going to cost me?” Thankfully, a hidden gem in Colorado offers the same great snow at a fantastic price that you may not even believe.

Chapman Hill Ski Area is in the city of Durango and offers day passes at an astonishing $16 a day. I know you may think it is a typo, but fortunately, it is not. Season passes for Chapman Hill are only $128. To put that into perspective, a one-day lift at Breckenridge costs $188, while Aspen’s one day will cost $204. So yes, a seasonal pass at Chapman Hill is cheaper than a single-day ticket at Aspen and Breckenridge.

So, you may be wondering why and how Chapman Hill is only $16 a day. They can keep the prices so low because they don’t have a single chairlift. Instead, they only use two tow ropes to get skiers and boarders up the slope. The slope itself offers 500 vertical feet of skiable terrain. Though it may not be as big as Aspen, Breckenridge, or the other major slopes in Colorado, it’s hard to pass up for the price.

Though Chapman Hill is a bit smaller than other slopes in Colorado, it still offers excellent terrain and features for different level riders. They have a terrain park with features ranging from small features and a few larger features. They still groom parts of their slopes while leaving other parts full of moguls and ungroomed terrain for those wanting a little more of a challenge. One of the best features of Chapman Hill is that they still offer training. If you’re new to the sport or want to try it out for the first time, this would be a great place to start.

Oh, they also have snow tubing available, so they have something for the whole family and every skill level. For $16 a day or $128 for the entire season, Chapman Hill is great for those who love the sport or who are just now beginning to find their love for the sport.
