It’s still early for skiing in the South America. May down there is the equivalent to our November, but really it’s more like our October as ski season doesn’t really get going until July down there.
They have a much shorter season than we do in the North. South America ski season is only about 3 months long compared to the 6 months we get in the north. For it to be snowing a bit this early is a good sign, right?
Maybe. Early season snowfalls generally melt away and never really contribute to the winter snowpack. It’s almost certainly no harbinger of the winter to come (Tahoe had big snow in Oct this winter, but a lousy season) but it’s good just to perk our ears and get us back in the mood. Enjoy a few shots of the new snow in Las Leñas & Valle Nevado from over the weekend.
There’s only a couple of months before South America ski season is underway. What’s it gonna be this year? You going for it this summer? Or not?
Next year!
It’s on this year. Las Lenas.
