With more resorts now open than there are closed in Chile and Argentina, we need it to start dumping – it looks like we’re not going to be disappointed.

Fresh snow fell over parts of Argentina during the weekend, helping to improve Chapelco’s coverage prior to its opening, and Cerro Catedral also saw great snow conditions, allowing the resort to open its beginner section earlier than planned. Both these resorts are expecting a consistently snowy week, growing heavier as the week progresses.

Where it’s at right now though is Chile. La Parva recorded almost a foot on their upper slopes, with great skiing on offer across the mountain, and Valle Nevado also saw great snowfall with 6″ falling. The forecast for the week is predominantly sunny, with temperatures sitting on or around freezing.

Nevados de Chillan though looks to be the exception, with the resort currently set for a very snowy Tuesday, with the potential for upwards of 3-feet to fall. Beginning early Tuesday, with up to a foot during the day, overnight expect up to 2-feet to fall. Wednesday morning should be sweeet!
