Colorado Man Missing Over 1-Week After Summiting 13,916′ Mount Meeker, CO

A Fort Collins, CO man went missing after summiting 13,916′ Mount Meeker, CO on Saturday, June 30th, 2018.

38-year-old Brian Perri was last seen hiking up Mount Meeker on June 30th.  On June 30th, he texted a photo of himself on the summit of Mount Meeker.

Brian was carrying very little gear and had no overnight camping equipment with him.

Brian did not contact any friends after completing this Mount Meeker summit.  His last known contact with anyone was from the summit of Mount Meeker.

Kyle Patterson explained that Brians friends became concerned when Brian did not respond to their messages.

Brian is described as an experienced hiker who summited Colorado 14ers frequently.

Park rangers were informed of the missing hiker and quickly located Brian’s car in the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead parking lot on Thursday, July 5th 2018,  in Rocky Mountain National Park, CO.

A Flight for Life helicopter was activated for the search for Brian on Thursday as well as over 24 park staff on foot.  No sign of Brian was found.

It appears that park rangers were not informed of the missing man until Thursday.

On Friday morning at dawn, the Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue team was dispatched for a ground search.  The search focused on the ridge lines and summit of Mount Meeker.  Again, no sign of Brian was found.

Search efforts will continue today at dawn.

Brian’s car was parked at a lower parking lots on the trail which has lead to a larger search area.

Hikers have been found in the past after having been lost in the nearby forests for over 3 days.

With water sources available in the area, rescuers are hoping Brian will be found alive.

In the photo that Brian texted his friend from the summit of Mount Meeker, he was wearing a full brim hat, sunglasses, and a red backpack.  Brian is 5’9″ and weigh 160 lbs.
