Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, Colorado, is pushing its 2025–26 season deeper into spring, announcing it will remain open through Sunday, May 10 after a late-season storm cycle delivered 14 inches of new snow. The Colorado resort had initially announced a closing day of May 3.
The resort had been preparing to wind down operations but opted to extend the season for one more weekend — a decision that reflects both improved conditions and the mountain’s reputation for some of the longest seasons in North America. “We’ve decided to do the most A-Basin thing we know how to do: not give up on this thing,” the resort shared in a statement.

One More Weekend on Snow
Arapahoe Basin will pause midweek operations from May 4–7 before reopening Friday through Sunday, May 8–10. Two primary lifts — Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express — will operate during the extended weekend, with hours set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the weekend.
While terrain will be limited and no beginner runs are currently available, the extension offers advanced and intermediate skiers a final opportunity to carve spring turns at high elevation.
Lift tickets will be available for $39 through closing day, and 2026–27 season passes — including Ikon Pass access — can be used immediately for the final weekend.

Late-Season Conditions Deliver
The extension follows a week of fresh snowfall that revitalized coverage across the mountain, a reminder of how quickly spring conditions can shift in Colorado’s high alpine environment. Arapahoe Basin, which sits along the Continental Divide, is known for holding snow well into late spring and occasionally early summer.
The added snowfall has helped stabilize terrain heading into May, even as many lower-elevation resorts across the region have already closed for the season.

Closing Weekend Atmosphere
True to its spring skiing culture, A-Basin plans to wrap up the season with a festive atmosphere in the base area. Live music is scheduled for Saturday, with additional performances expected Sunday, alongside end-of-season retail sales and the return of the resort’s signature costumed closing-weekend crowds.
The event has become a hallmark of the resort’s identity — equal parts skiing and celebration — drawing locals and destination skiers alike for one last weekend on snow.
Looking Ahead to Summer
Despite the extended winter operations, Arapahoe Basin confirmed that its summer season will begin as scheduled on July 2, with activities including its Via Ferrata and summer pass offerings already on sale.
But for now, the focus remains on squeezing out a few more days of winter.
