Copper Mountain, Colorado, announced on social media that the resort will extend its season to Sunday, May 3, $49 lift tickets for the final week of skiing. The mountain initially planned to close on Sunday, April 26, but now skiers and snowboarders have an extra week to grab those great spring laps.
Copper credits early-season snowmaking —starting October 1, 2025— along with its high base and north-facing terrain for the extended season. The resort is typically one of the first in the United States to start making snow each season. Copper Mountain also has a higher base elevation than other resorts at 9,712 feet (2,946 meters) and a summit elevation of 12,441 feet (3,792 meters). That allows the mountain to remain colder along with its north-facing slopes which keeps snow melt at a minimum.
Six ski resorts remain open in Colorado. Aspen Mountain and Winter Park are set to close April 19, Loveland on April 26, while Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin aim to stay open as long as conditions allow.
There’s still a lot to do at Copper Mountain with its Sunsation Spring Festival featuring free live music, DJs, and great spring après ski.
