Copper will offer beginner and intermediate terrain access from the resortā€™s Center Village

Celebrate the official start of the 50th season with a week of events including a movie premiere, last chance gear sale and the resortā€™s annual Snowsation festival

Opening day has finally arrived, and Copper Mountain is ready to party like itā€™s 1972. The Athlete’s Mountain is officially kicking off its 50th anniversary season on Nov. 14 with top-to-bottom terrain access from Center Village. With a 50th anniversary to commemorate, Copper is setting the tone for the season ahead with a packed week of events, giveaways and more.

OPENING DAY TERRAIN

The following lifts and trails will be open to the public for skiing and riding.

  • Center Village- Beginner and Intermediate Terrain:
  • American Eagle Lift ā€“ Rhapsody to Fair Play to Main Vein
  • Excelerator Lift ā€“ Ptarmigan
  • EZ Rider Lift ā€“ EZ Rider Learning Area
  • Pitchfork Lift ā€“ Green Acres Beginner Area

A terrain park will also be open at the top of the American Eagle lift boasting rail and jib features. Copper expects to open more terrain and lifts the following weekend, as conditions allow.

OPENING WEEK FESTIVITIES

Copper will ring in the milestone season starting this weekend, before the lifts turn. Grab any last-minute winter gear at the Team Summit Ski & Snowboard Swap at the Copper Conference Center on Friday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Nov. 13. Proceeds from the Ski Swap will benefit local Team Summit athletes. On Sunday, Nov. 13, Copper will kick the season hype into high gear with a showing of Matchstick Productions’ latest film Anywhere From Here, which features local 12-year-old athlete Walker Woodring and includes shots filmed at Copperā€™s Woodward Mountain Park. The film will be shown at Ten Mile Tavern in Center Village at 5:15 p.m. and will include giveaways including a pair of Volkl Mantra 102 skis. Filmgoers can also participate in Ten Mileā€™s annual Mug Club and receive deals on drafts throughout the season. Guests can join Mug Club beginning at 4:30 p.m., ahead of the movie premiere.

The 50th anniversary season at Copper Mountain will officially begin on Monday, Nov. 14. Those that choose to join in the landmark season celebration at Copper on opening day will be treated to a swag giveaway, a first chair ceremony and a live DJ set. The first 100 people in line at the American Eagle chairlift and gondola will receive a limited pair of 50th anniversary slippers, perfect to slide on after a day breaking in the boots. Copper will also offer $6 beer specials on select drafts at all resort dining outlets on opening day, including Ten Mile Tavern, Sawmill Pizza & Taphouse, Downhill Dukes, Jackā€™s Bar and JJā€™s Rocky Mountain Tavern.

The party continues into the weekend with Copperā€™s annual Snowsation festival. On Saturday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 20, Copper will do its annual snow dance, inviting skiers and riders to enjoy live music, games and good times in Center Village. Join in for games of corn hole, a tire toss, and Subaru car karaoke to win exciting prizes. Saturday will be topped off with a free live music performance at 3 p.m. from Pet Rock, the ultimate 70s tribute band, bringing back the vibes from the original days of Copper in 1972. Snowsation will wrap an electrifying week of season stoke at Copper.
