When you go for the Baker road gap, you wanna make sure that you get plenty of air.  If you throw a backflip and you think you’re gonna end up short, you wanna tuck your legs into your chest to increase your angular velocity and get those skis under your body.

This guy does neither and pays a hefty price…

  1. You can’t increase your angular momentum (the product of moment of inertia and rotation rate) once you’re airborne–it’s conserved. You can, however, increase your angular velocity by reducing your moment of inertia (which is what happens when you tuck).
