Double Olympic champion Ester Ledecká has once again proven that she can do it all—ski, snowboard, and—apparently—take a gender test with a sense of humor sharper than her carving edge.
In an Instagram post that quickly made the rounds across the ski world, Ledecká revealed she’d taken the new FIS DNA test—the one that’s caused more debate than a World Cup start list in foggy weather—and, in classic Ledecká fashion, decided to make light of it.
“Just for the record, FIS has decided to introduce gender tests in the future, and there’s been way more fuss about it than I think is reasonable. So I took a test just for fun at @ghcgeneticscz, and it’s now official – I’m just a woman. But they also found a mild allergy to kryptonite, so… not sure what to do with that.”
The revelation that the Czech superstar is “just a woman” may not shock anyone who’s watched her tear through Olympic downhill courses and snowboard slalom gates with equal dominance, but the kryptonite allergy might explain her otherworldly powers. After all, Ledecká is the only athlete in history—male or female—to win gold medals in both alpine skiing and snowboarding at the same Winter Olympics—a feat that would even have Superman (or Supergirl) sweating under the cape.
Fans and fellow athletes flooded the comments with laughing emojis, applause, and a few “Queen of Two Worlds” nods. Some joked that FIS might now have to test for superpowers too.
Whether FIS’s new testing policies will create more headlines remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: Ledecká doesn’t need a lab result to confirm she’s built differently. Kryptonite allergy or not, the legend continues, and we can’t wait to see what the upcoming 2026 Winter Games will bring for this incredible athlete.
