The Deer Valley mountain mansion from Jesse Armstrong’s TV film Mountainhead is now for rent through real estate agent Luxe Haus. The 7-bedroom house, which features a private gondola, set a price record for Utah when it sold last November for over $50 million after being initially listed for $65 million. The mansion is the location of much of the movie, so if you have admired the set, you can actually step right into it and relive your favorite scenes from the movie and pretend you are a tech-bro billionaire on your mountain retreat with your (billionaire) friends.

Director and writer Jesse Armstrong is the man behind critically acclaimed hit-series Succession but also the writer behind ski-movie flop Downhill. His latest straight-to-streaming movie Mountainhead was released on HBO in May this year and so far has seen mixed reviews. The plot boils down to four tech-bro-billionaire-friends meeting at (the poorest) friend’s ski house (har har, the irony), where they watch in billionaire-comfort as the world around them turns to hell, which they may or may not have caused—directly or indirectly—with their AI technologies (I’ll say no more to avoid spoilers). So in a way, Mountainhead is a logical continuation of Armstrong’s most recent works Succession and Downhill as he takes industry leaders to the snow.

While the movie focuses on AI, the mansion is certainly not AI-generated. | Image: Screenshot movie

With a cast that includes the likes of Steve Carell and Ramy Youssef, the set had to be larger than life to stand out, and the Deer Valley mansion delivers. Designed by award-winning architect Michael Upwall, renowned for his “Mountain Craftsman” aesthetic, and built by McNulty Construction, the 21,378-square-foot mansion is a marvel of architectural ingenuity. The geometric façade of massive angled windows ensures every room captures the surrounding alpine beauty. The interior, with its light oak floors, vaulted wood ceilings, and expansive glass walls, strikes a balance between the relaxed charm of a ski retreat and the sophistication of an ultra-luxe residence.

Situated in the exclusive gated community of Deer Crest, the house offers seven bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and a host of recreational features. There’s an NBA-sized basketball court, a two-lane bowling alley, an infinity pool, a Dolby Atmos theater with a starry ceiling, and a climbing wall that redefines “home gym.” Other highlights include an indoor pickleball court, a games lounge, a golf simulator, and a wine room lined with glass cabinets. Even the staircase turns heads—with a reported construction cost of $1.6 million.

While you won’t need to be a billionaire to rent the mansion for you and your friends, it does help to be cashed up as the cost sits at $60,000 per night. For those who don’t have six figures to spend on a weekend getaway, there is always the movie which can be streamed on HBO Max and Amazon Prime.
