Diamond Peak Ski Resort, Nevada, a hidden gem located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, is kicking off its 60th season today. With 655 skiable acres, 1,840 feet of vertical drop, and a summit elevation of 8,540 feet, Diamond Peak Ski Resort packs an impressive vertical for its size in the Tahoe Basin. The resort features six lifts servicing 30 trails, with terrain that’s 46% intermediate and 36% advanced, giving skiers plenty of variety.
The resort will give the first 60 people in line at Lodgepole giveaways in honor of Diamond Peak’s 60th season. Guests lucky enough to get the First chair will also receive a special swag bag. Diamond Peak’s early-season operations will consist of the Lodgepole & School House (beginner chairs), the Lodgepole & School Yard (beginner trails), and the Pop-up park on Lodgepole. Lifts are scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The Base Lodge will be running all services, including food and beverage, retail sports shop, rental and repairs/tuning. Diamond Peak anticipates that only its beginner lifts (Lodgepole and Schoolhouse) and beginner terrain will be available for approximately the first week of the season.

Diamond Peak accumulates over 300 inches of snow a season, and the north-facing slopes hold snow for days, leaving an abundance of pow stashes hidden throughout its expansive glades after each storm cycle. Much of the laid-back, forgiving terrain is located on the lower half of the mountain, but what truly sets Diamond Peak apart is its seemingly endless series of steep glades and groomers. These are all accessible via the Crystal Express Quad on the upper half of the mountain.
The mountain usually operates from December to April, weather permitting. Last season, Diamond Peak opened on Thursday, December 5. This season, Diamond Peak partnered with Michigan’s Mt. Bohemia, which allows Bohemia passholders from Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Iowa to get one free lift ticket for the upcoming winter. The announcement has generated excitement among extreme skiing enthusiasts, as both Mt. Bohemia and Diamond Peak are known for their steep, gladed terrain.
