The 7th Annual Luggi Foeger Uphill/Downhill Festival & SkiMo Race will be held on March 28 at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Nevada. The Lake Tahoe Basin’s premier SkiMo competition is an incredibly family-friendly event. Competitors race to the top of the mountain using any human-powered method – skins, snowshoes, running shoes, etc. – then ski, snowboard, snowshoe, or run back down to the finish line. For those of a less competitive nature, a recreational course to mid-mountain is available. The event will also include activities in the base area, including uphill demos, a DJ, and an awards ceremony in the Loft Bar. Then, the fun continues with a winter wildlife snowshoe hike on Sunday morning.

Close out the Nordic season with the Tahoe Nordic Expo, happening in-person at Tahoe XC or virtually from anywhere. Join Olympic, Paralympic, and World Cup stars, including Tahoe native JC Schoonmaker, Kikkan Randall, Julia Kern, Andy Newell, Oksana Masters, Jaz Taylor, and Annika Malacinski for a live virtual panel sharing season highlights, behind-the-scenes stories, and insights from the top of the sport. Live Q&A to follow.
Explore hands-on clinics: Martin Bene’s Race-Curious Clinic dives into racing skills and strategy, and Jared Manninen’s XC Meets Backcountry Clinic shows how Nordic skills translate to the backcountry. Both clinics are geared for dryland training to focus on technique, while building fitness and community. There will also be a laser biathlon relay, where you can get your heart rate pumping before steadying yourself to aim.
The team from Salomon will be on site with gear demos. Come chat with team Salomon at the TBA table. The Mountain Lotus food truck will be on site with savory menu offerings, and the day wraps up with a live panel viewing, happy hour, and giveaways. This event is designed for all skill levels, Nordic disciplines, and abilities. As part of the Expo’s commitment to giving back, 10% of proceeds benefit Move United, supporting adaptive athletes nationwide.
Reserve your spot today! Use code TBA50 for 50% off any ticket option.
If the long-range forecasts are right, there could be a return to winter in time for the Expo. Fingers crossed!
Spring Cleaning
Warm temps hit earlier than anyone would’ve liked, and in addition to losing snow on the hill, trailheads are melting out, and with that, you can see garbage and waste that had been buried under snow. The resort asks that visitors do their best to pick up what they can, and if they see any areas that have a lot of trash, to please let resort management know directly, and they will get some volunteers out to clean it up.

Diamond Peak Resort Updates
Diamond Peak worked with El Dorado County Supervisor Brooke Laine to push a new Winter no-parking ordinance back until next year. With that extra time, TBA and EDC will identify recreation access points to make sure those zones are not impacted by any future ordinance.
The resort continues to manage the Mt. Tallac lot, expanded the library sno-park program to add more libraries, and now offers snowshoes and poles in both Truckee and Tahoe City libraries. It will continue working with the Washoe Tribe and their Youth Expedition Program, and are looking forward to more days on snow with the kids. Diamond Peak received a five-year extension to manage the Lake Run parking and the important steps they have made on new trailheads, such as Rubicon.
Diamond Peak is a community-owned, family friendly resort, which is always looking for support to keep the wheels spinning and the fun going.
