CAL FIRE responded with Truckee Fire District to the burning Lytton Lake Lodge at Donner Ski Ranch Resort, CA, on Friday night. The resort will be closed today due to utility losses required to safely disconnect the burned-down lodge.
The fire was well established prior to the arrival of fire resources. It could not be accessed by engines, so firefighters made access via snowcat and snow machine.

The fire spread to adjacent trees that were felled to protect the chair lift and other infrastructure. There are no known injuries, and Truckee Fire District is investigating the cause.
A comment on the CAL FIRE Facebook post claims this is the second fire at this location in recent years.
It’s not the top as reported but the new yet to open lodge at the bottom of the backside. 2nd time it’s burned down recently. Tragic.
