Eldora, the backyard winter playground for Boulder, Denver, and Colorado’s northern Front Range will open seven days early for downhill skiing and snowboarding, at 9:00 AM on Friday, November 11. One run will be open, the Hornblower-to-International top-to-bottom blue run, served by the Alpenglow six-person chair. A small terrain park will also be open in the base area. No beginner terrain will be open.

“Thanks to the hard work of our employees, we’re opening a full week ahead of schedule for our 60th anniversary season. We’re so proud to have served as the local community’s hub for winter adventure for the past six decades, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back for another season.

– Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s president and general manager

Just 20 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 from Denver, Eldora is the closest Ikon Pass destination to the Denver metro region, offering unlimited access on the Ikon Pass and free transportation from downtown Boulder on weekends. Eldora is part of the POWDR Adventure Lifestyle portfolio.

🥳SURPRISE🥳 We’re opening TOMORROW!

That’s right, due to our awesome snowmaking team and Mother Nature herself we are opening a full week early—tomorrow, November 11—for our 60th Anniversary season! 🧡

Before we begin the celebrations, here’s what to expect:

🪩 No beginner terrain will be open. We’re working on it!

🪩 Only one run (Hornblower/International) and one lift (Alpenglow) will be open, with thin early-season conditions and active snowmaking operations. Please take it SLOWLY

and ride SAFELY and RESPECTFULLY.

🪩 Timbers Terrain Park will have a small build-out for our park skiers and riders. Passes and tickets are required, even for those hiking the park.

🪩 No parking reservations are required this winter, and we’ve expanded our parking by 50%.

🪩 A Single-Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) fee of $10 will be in effect every Saturday and Sunday and certain weekdays this season, as required by Boulder County. Cars with two or more can always park for free, every day.

🪩 To celebrate six decades of fun on snow at greater Boulder’s backyard mountain, we’re gathering memories from guests through the years. To share memories—words, photos, videos—submit them through the link in our bio or share them on social media using hashtag #Eldora60.

Other exciting updates and important considerations include…

Expanded Parking Capacity: Eldora’s multi-part approach to addressing weekend traffic congestion during the heart of the winter season includes a parking expansion of nearly 50% that will provide more efficient traffic ingress and flow and will also soon feature a new electric-vehicle charging lot with 15 dual-port ChargePoint EV charging stations.

Weekend Single-Occupancy Vehicle Fee: After delaying the policy for the 20/21 and 21/22 seasons due to Covid considerations, Boulder County will now require Eldora to collect a $10 fee from single-occupancy vehicles (SOVs) on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and weekdays with 10 or more inches of new snow. Weekend/holiday parking will be free for vehicles with two or more occupants, and vehicles with three or more occupants may take advantage of premium, up-front HOV parking near the Alpenglow chairlift on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking will be free for all vehicles on every non-holiday weekday with less than ten inches of snow. Parking reservations will not be required at any time. Learn more here.

Free Rides from Boulder Every Weekend: In alignment with Boulder County’s sustainable transportation priorities and Eldora’s own Play Forever sustainability practices, Eldora will once again offer free RTD tickets to riders on the NB bus route as well as free round-trip shuttle rides between Boulder and Eldora on Saturdays, Sundays, and certain other days. Please visit our Sustainable Transportation page for schedules and other details.

$10 Million Invested in Guest Experience: Eldora has invested roughly $10,000,000 on various enhancements for its 60th season, including the parking expansion and EV-charging lot, snowmaking upgrades, a new rental equipment fleet, Timbers Lodge kitchen remodel, various on-mountain trail improvements, IT upgrades, lift-maintenance projects, and fleet vehicle maintenance and upgrades.

Share Eldora Memories: To celebrate its beloved guests, which have made Eldora’s six decades possible, the mountain is soliciting memories from anytime over the past 60 years to share on social media and other Eldora channels this season. Guests with memories to share, whether in words, photos, or videos, can submit them through this form or share them on social media using hashtag #Eldora60.

60th Anniversary History Book: Get nostalgic with us as we dive into the chronicles of our beloved backyard ski area with beautiful photos, larger-than-life characters, and a truly colorful history. Save on this commemorative hardcover book by ordering during our pre-sale here.

Nordic Center and Uphill Access: For the cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and uphill skiers out there, Eldora’s Nordic trail network and uphill access routes will not be open yet, since both of those zones are more dependent on natural snowfall than Eldora’s alpine ski and snowboard offerings. Stay tuned at eldora.com/conditions for updates.

Now Hiring: Eldora employees get free season passes, free skiing at most other Colorado resorts, competitive wages, and many other benefits. The resort is still hiring snowmakers, kitchen staff, and many other jobs. Browse and apply at eldora.com/jobs.
