It’s official… February 2019 is the snowiest month EVER recorded at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, CA. It started dumping on February 1st, and since then the resort has almost seen an unbelievable foot of snow every single day.
At 2 pm on Tuesday, officials at the resort excitedly shared on social media that the six inches they’d just received brought the total for February to 286 inches. This beats the previous record-breaking month in January 2017 by just four inches. It took 31-days to achieve that previous record, this new record was set in just 26-days, with 2 days of heavy snow yet to come.
And they got EVEN more snow overnight for a season total of 557″, and taking February 2019 passed the 300″ mark.
And it is still dumping and February is not yet over!
Squaw Valley was closed yesterday, and Alpine Meadows were running very limited lifts, due to the snow, wind, and avalanche risk. Today should be yet another epic day.
This season, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has had more than 46 feet of snow (557″).
