The first ever indoor ski resort is coming to the United States. According to NJ Family, the ski resort, called Big SNOW America, will be located in a massive mall called American Dream Meadowlands. Big SNOW America is expected to open in March of 2019. It will not only be the first indoor ski resort in North America, but in the entire Western Hemisphere!

Big SNOW America’s goal is to provide an authentic skiing experience. Aside from the chalet and lodge, the resort will have some realistic features for its customers.  The climate controlled building will be sixteen stories high, 180,000 square feet (16,723 square meters), and the slope will be 800 vertical feet (244 meters). The most interesting feature will be that the snow will be real. All of the water will be processed through a closed loop system that funnels melting snow back into the snow making system.

Big SNOW America will have many astounding features that will make it a very appealing place to ski for families. The goal of the indoor resort is to give customers their first ski or snowboarding experience and make those people feel comfortable on snow. The resort will provide terrain for all ages and skill levels. Big SNOW America will offer private & group lessons and full & half day lessons for children while their parents explore the mall. Lessons will be conducted in a “Terrain Based Learning Method” which utilizes shaped snow features to help control guest speed and increase movement & repetition.

If one thing is for certain, skiing is becoming a much bigger industry than most people could have foreseen in the past.
