A former New York ski area with deep local roots is back on the market, offering 88 acres of mountaintop land, panoramic views, and redevelopment potential for nearly $3 million. The former Mount Storm Ski Area, once a small but beloved local hill, is now listed for sale at $2.95 million, according to the property listing.

The property spans five parcels and features roughly 180-degree panoramic views from the ridgeline, with sightlines extending for miles across the surrounding countryside. At the center of the site is the original main lodge building, which includes three three-bedroom apartments, a studio office, and a basement that still houses original skis, boots, and poles dating back to the 1980s—a time capsule from the ski area’s operating years. An open pole barn on the property provides additional storage and utility space.

Located within an agricultural district and zoned for both farm use and residential development, the land presents multiple potential futures. According to the listing, the parcels could allow for subdivision and the creation of future homesites, opening the door to uses ranging from private estates to small-scale residential or agricultural development. A secondary access point along Route 52 is also included, referenced through a separate multi-family listing tied to the property.

Once a fixture of the regional ski scene, Mount Storm served generations of local skiers before closing, part of a broader wave of small ski areas across the Northeast that struggled to survive amid rising costs and increasingly unpredictable winters. The listing, represented by realtor Chris Galli, shows both the site’s historical significance and its flexibility for new ownership, calling it a rare opportunity to acquire a former ski mountain with expansive views and redevelopment potential.

Whether reborn as housing, farmland, or preserved as a private mountain retreat, the former Mount Storm Ski Area now stands at a crossroads—its next chapter waiting for a buyer willing to reimagine a piece of New York ski history.
