Coronavirus made everyone a backcountry skier—at least so it seems. And the backcountry will be busy this season.

Also, who doesn’t love free stuff?

If you plan on skiing in the backcountry this season and haven’t taken your Level 1 course yet, please do so!

And while you’re at it you may as well check out this free avalanche awareness course

The Colorado Mountain School just released an hour-long video covering avalanche awareness basics. This course is not a substitute for an avalanche safety class but it does provide a foot in the door in regards to avalanche safety.

The hour-long course covers the topics of how avalanches happen, what avalanche terrain can look like, and how to avoid avalanches.
