VIDEO: Big Wave Surfing on Skis

Keenan Grady | | Post Tag for SurfSurf

As skiers, we’ve probably all thought of it…Places we wish we could ski but due to technology at the time period are unable to.  For example, the Valhalla Forest Segment, or even simply wanting to ski a line but your gear isn’t good enough to get you there.  Luckily that wasn’t the case for Chuck Patterson.  After watching Mike Douglas and Cody Townsend ski waves in 2009, chuck began to rethink his surfing ski design, and by 2011, Chuck developed a better ski and chased a huge swell to Pe’ahi (Jaws) on Maui.

Chuck Patterson is an absolute animal.  He used to be a professional freeskier and then made his move to Hawaii where he’s now respected as a professional waterman.  Skip to 1:18 in the video to see his first ski-surf-tow-in.

This guy has a thirst that cannot be quenched, and simply likes to find the actual limits of what is possible. Our hats at Snowbrains go off to you Chuck.
