The Freeride World Tour announced Tuesday that the canceled Georgia Pro will be restaged this week in Kühtai near Innsbruck, providing athletes a replacement competition and preserving crucial points in the season standings. The event, originally scheduled in Georgia, was called off due to unstable snowpack conditions that organizers said made it unsafe to proceed. In a statement, the FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance confirmed that Schöffi’s Face in Kühtai has been selected as a suitable alternative venue meeting the tour’s safety and operational standards.
Restaging the competition ensures that riders will still have the opportunity to earn the points that had been allocated to the Georgia Pro, an important factor as athletes compete to qualify for the Tour Finals. Organizers said the relocation is a one-season solution only and emphasized that the Georgia Pro remains a core stop on the long-term Freeride World Tour calendar.
“We look forward to returning next year to host the event in its original setting,” the tour said in its announcement.
A competition window is currently targeted for Thursday or Friday, pending final confirmation based on mountain and weather conditions. Broadcast details and scheduling information are expected to be released soon.
The Freeride World Tour also thanked local organizers in Kühtai-Innsbruck for quickly coordinating logistics to make the replacement event possible, along with the Georgia organizing team for their cooperation following the cancellation.
