There’s a healthy heap o’reasons to get stoked about spring and summer at Grand Targhee Resort in the famed Tetons Mountains.

With traditionally deep snowpack and relatively few skiers, Targhee already sets the bar high as a winter destination.

But while the POW might draw the dreamers in, it’s the year-round atmosphere that keeps those in the know coming back year after year.

And as far as summer 2022 is concerned, the ‘Ghee features a line-up of programming that’s sure to add a welcome dash of ‘fire’ to the season. Targhee makes a point of stacking its calendar with attractions and events. And every one of them is an occasion to gather the community and the whole family in the name of good vibes.

Bike Park expands the resort’s already famous zeal for adventure to the next logical step (and season) by transitioning TargheeVibe from snow trail to flow trail.

Targhee heartily welcomes gear-and-sprocket traffic upon otherwise ski-purposed downhill terrain via its already snappy on-mountain infrastructure (i.e., terraforming, chairlifts, and the like).

A regular name among the Top 5 Best Bike Parks in the Northwest United States, Grand Targhee Resort proudly offers over 2,000 vertical feet of technical downhill and nearly 80 miles of scenic, multi-purpose single-track. Targhee describes their home turf as, ‘gentle cruisers; tight, twisty single-track; gnarly, rock-strewn downhill and drops.’

As a destination for the pedal-powered, Targhee Resort features terrain for all ability levels. And the orientation of the trails benefits Bike Park with refreshingly cool temperatures, which might be a small nicety but it goes a long after a full day of hard riding. Plus, bike access feeds successfully into Targhee’s additional outdoor or indoor attractions.

If keen for action of a different degree, there’s Targhee’s rock climbing tower or bungy-trampoline.  And gear hire or a guide can are bookable with your session.

Or there’s the interpretive Nature Center, a favorite hangout for kiddos of all ages. This hands-on house of natural learning is nestled in Mother Nature’s Targhee National Forest and boasts hides, racks, books, and more to raise the stoke about the ‘Ghee’s stunning garden playground.

And when the muscles are tuckered out from playing outside, Targhee boasts a fantastic alfresco lap pool with neighboring hot tub time machine. The facility also is home to a cozy fitness center that overlooks the water. And a charming wood fencing affords the guests a bit of privacy during their workout or swim.

Then there’s the well-deserved legend of Trap Bar & Grill; it’s an icon of the Teton’s west side and a gathering space unlike any other. Its ambiance is all big mountain energy and cozy interior, wrapped around a center stage that draws big-time headlining talent. The locals love it from their heads down to their toes, so it’s little surprise the dance floor is usually packed.

Add to the mix the mouth-watering dinner specials at the Branding Iron. These meals are equally famed for simmering sides and rich desserts. And the meals are more than enough to fuel the next adventure on the itinerary.

Fun fact: the tops of the Tetons were once at the bottom of a prehistoric sea. The author and his “executive assistant” on safari for aquatic fossils atop Grand Targhee. Photo: P.M.Fadden

Combine all the above, and it’s little surprise; Grand Targhee is an idyllic spot for unforgettable holidays and weekends or even a quick afternoon getaway.

As a summer hot spot, Targhee is home to wilderness and dirt track, jam sessions and pool parties, barstool quarterbacks, climbing, and more. Targhee offers something for everyone—whether on skis or off.

Grab the calendar, plan the trip, and see you at the ‘Ghee.
