{It’s Monday, and that means it’s time for Music for your Monday’s, a new weekly feature here on Snowbrains where we bring you a band or artist that we think deserves a spot on your skiing, riding, biking, whatever playlist.}

This week we bring you Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, whom you East Coasters may already be familiar with, but those of us west of the Rockies, not so much. Hailing from Vermont, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are a rock band with bluesy, folksy, country undertones. And led by lead singer Grace Potter whom has been compared to the likes of Janis Joplin, they bring a certain unique voice to the rock genre.

Formed in Vermont in 2002, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals began as an indie band before signing a major record label in 2005. Since then they have released four studio albums and have played a large role in the East Coast music scene. Recently the band has begun to push farther west and have played a handful of shows this side of the continental divide. And if you live in the Tahoe area they are playing one of those west coast shows on Sunday June 9th at the Crystal Bay Club in North Lake. With emotional intelligent songs, and vibrant energy at live shows, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are worth checking out, you’ll be glad you did!
