Grand Targhee, Wyoming, is considering subdividing part of the area west of the base area, with the potential to sell some lots for homebuilding. Geordie Gillett, Owner and General Manager of Grand Targhee, told the Jackson Hole News and Guide, “We’re a ways out in terms of this actually becoming real,” but that preliminary plans had been submitted to Teton County, Wyoming.

A proposed map from Jorgensen Engineering, published by the Jackson Hole News and Guide, shows 38 potential lots and a proposed roadway. Grand Targhee may choose to develop some of the lots itself, but if the lots are put up for sale, Grand Targhee could represent a rare opportunity to build a home in the base of a ski area.
Grand Targhee is also pursuing a major master planned development project, seeking to expand its terrain, replace some of its chairlifts, and upgrade its base area. The project requires approvals from Teton County, Wyoming, and the Forest Service, which issued the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the project in April 2025. The Final Environmental Impact Statement is expected in March or April 2026, with a decision shortly thereafter.

That land does not belong to Grand Targhee! It belongs to ALL of us and ‘supposedly’ administered by the US Forest Service! This is just another land grab opportunity in order to allow rich Land Barrons to profit from the sell-off of Public Lands.
Shame on you Ranger Jay Pence for even entertaining the idea!
Booooooooo! Can we not ruin every single ski hill on the continent, please?
