The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for California. It is in effect from early through late Tuesday Night. High winds are expected to accompany this storm, which will make for whiteout conditions in the mountains.

Total Snow Accumulations of 1-3 FEET Above 7,500ft Through Tonight In California.

Snow levels are expected to start out above 8,000ft, but they are forecasted to drop down to 5,000ft by Tuesday afternoon.

Including the cities of Camp Nelson, Giant Forest, Lodgepole,
and Johnsondale

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions.
 Total snow accumulations of around one to two feet, with
 localized amounts near three feet, are expected in the highest
 elevations. Gusty winds and blowing snow will also be possible.

* WHERE...Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to the Kern
 County line. Snow levels starting out above 8000 feet this
 morning and lowering to 5000 feet to 6000 feet by this
 afternoon.

* WHEN...Through 10 PM PST Tonight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in
 visibility at times. Most roads will have chain requirements
 and should be carried in vehicle when driving in these areas.
