More than a month earlier than normal, 4″ of snow has dropped on Australia’s ski fields, with greater totals at higher elevations. Big snowfall in mid-May is rare for the region.

Temperatures dropped to 32ºF on Tuesday night, allowing snow to fall through the night across the snowy mountains of New South Wales.

Thredbo and Perisher both reported 10cm (4″) at the base.

The snowfall is raising the stoke of eager skiers and riders deprived of a ski season last year due to the covid-19 pandemic.
