Heli, the Aspen-based digital platform specializing in adventure travel, has officially acquired Mustang Powder, one of British Columbia’s most revered cat-skiing operations. The move marks the third major acquisition for Heli, further solidifying its presence in the global backcountry ski industry.

Nestled deep in the Monashee Mountains near Revelstoke, Mustang Powder has built a cult following over the past two decades for its consistently deep snow, steep tree runs, and fast-paced cat-skiing days. Founded in 2003, the operation has long been celebrated for its small-group ethos, tightly curated terrain, and intimate lodge life—an experience “by skiers, for skiers.”

“We’re honored to carry the torch and help protect the legacy Mustang has built. Their focus on quality, terrain, and guest experience mirrors the values we champion across our platform. We’re excited to support their incredible team and continue offering unforgettable powder days.”
— Andy Culp, CEO, Heli co-founder

While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition signals a continued strategy by Heli to unify the fragmented adventure travel space. The company launched in 2016 with a vision to streamline access to high-end adventure experiences, allowing customers to book everything from surf retreats in Mexico to luxury heli-ski trips in Japan through a single digital platform. Heli earns a commission on bookings and offers destination advice from seasoned travel experts.

The Mustang acquisition follows Heli’s earlier purchases of Great Canadian Heli-Skiing in 2022 and Colorado’s Silverton Mountain in 2023. Each acquisition strengthens the company’s position as a dominant force in premium mountain travel, with a growing network of iconic backcountry destinations.

Importantly, Mustang Powder will continue operating with its current guides, staff, and signature experience. Guests can expect the same meticulously maintained terrain, deep snowpack, and close-knit lodge vibe the operation is known for—now backed by the support and reach of Heli’s global infrastructure.

For Mustang, the transition is not about changing the formula—it’s about safeguarding it. “Heli shares our passion for big mountains, tight-knit groups, and unforgettable days in the backcountry,” Mustang Powder shared in a statement. “With this partnership, we’re committed to preserving the high standard of backcountry skiing and snowboarding our guests expect.”

Heli’s leadership team reflects the culture of the product they’re selling. CEO Andy Culp—a lifelong East Coast skier turned Vail ski bum with a background in New York finance—balances slope slang and business jargon with ease. His co-founder, President Brock Strasbourger, also blends deep industry experience in tech and finance with childhood roots on the slopes of Aspen.

The pair met at a dinner party in New York over a decade ago and quickly bonded over a shared vision: to make adventure travel more accessible, curated, and connected. Nearly ten years later, Heli is doing just that—one legendary mountain at a time.
