Search crews have recovered the body of Dan Wallick, a 41-year-old hiker who went missing last Wednesday after summitting two 14ers in Colorado. Wallick went missing on Wednesday, July 24th. He had contacted his family after he summitted Kit Carson Peak and Challenger Point. They reported him missing the following day when they had not heard from him again.
Custer County crews worked with other agencies on the ground and in the air to find Wallick in the rugged high country north of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. His body was recovered on Sunday.
Wallick, 41, was stationed at Schriever Air Force Base, the military said Sunday. He had been at the secretive base east of Colorado Springs since June 10, working in integrated missile defense, according to an Air Force spokeswoman.
