137-MPH Gust and Hurricane Force Winds Recorded at the Summit of Alpine Meadows, CA

Alpine Meadows, CA reported a wind gust of 137 mph at 3:45 am Tuesday morning, according to meteorologist Cassie Wilson.

But that’s not all… between 2:45-7:45 am the top of their mountain maintained category 1 hurricane-force winds!

Here’s a list of maximum wind gusts reported from late Monday into Tuesday morning. The Sierra crest ridge tops received the strongest gusts above 100 mph, while the US-395 corridor between Mammoth Lakes and Crowley Lake also saw some impressive gusts between 75-80 mph.
